Organisation Name: Public Libraries in the 21st Century: Chris Batt
Chris Batt, the Chief Executive of the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council in the United Kingdom, visited Melbourne in late August. His trip to Australia was sponsored by National and State Libraries Australasia.

Chris spoke at the State Library on Thursday, 30 August 2007 focusing on public libraries and their renaissance in the United Kingdom - canvassing what has worked, what hasn't, and what remains to be done. Adie Batt accompanied Chris on this visit; she is the Chief Librarian of the London Borough of Croydon, ex-President of the Association of London Chief Librarians and is on the board of the London Library Development Agency.

Chris also presented a session on Beyond Web 2.0 Paradoxes and Challenges.

Additional information about the Council and about Chris Batt can be found at and respectively.
